Popps Fountain Arbor Room City Park Wedding Photographs | Amy & Lowry

Married: March 23, 2019
Bridal Prep: Family Home
Ceremony: Popp Fountain City Park
Reception: Arbor Room at City Park

How did you meet?
Through mutual friends at a dive bar in the medical district. We talked about everything from neuroscience to summer jobs we had as teenagers.

Include a little bit about yourselves. What do you do?
Lowry owns a local biotech start-up company that has grown from a “nights and weekends” job to a 17-employee operation serving some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world–right here in NOLA!
Amy finished her PhD at Tulane in December and has joined a start-up called syGlass. The company sells software that allows medical and scientific images to be projected in virtual reality so they are more like the real world objects (a human MRI, for example).

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
The Arbor Room and Popp Fountain. We felt that it was natural and glamorous, just the way we wanted our ceremony to look. The whole thing went so quickly! But neither of us will forget how perfect the ceremony was.

What was your favorite part of the day?
Groom: when I saw her walking down the aisle. We didn’t do a first look and the moment had high emotional salience.

Bride: walking down the aisle and seeing the faces of friends, family and finally Lowry smiling at me made my heart feel so full.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
In the blink of an eye! It seemed unfair. But there were so many great memories packed in to the limited time that we had.

From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
So grateful and suddenly not nervous at all.

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
Amazed and overwhelmed.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
Get an all-inclusive venue! There are 1 million decisions to make about everything, don’t be on the hook for sourcing napkins and forks, too. City park was wonderful in this respect.

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Cupid by Amy Winehouse because it’s beautiful but energetic. We didn’t want to roll in from the 2nd line band playing “stand up and get Crunk” to a slow song killing the buzz.

Anything else you want to say?
It was a beautiful day and the perfect expression of our love for one another! The honeymoon in Colombia is going well, too!
