On Halloween night 2012 there was a boy dressed as a taco and a girl dressed as a Hogwarts student. They met. They fell in love. The rest is history!
So, tell us about the proposal!
He proposed to me at the Roosevelt hotel in New Orleans the day before Christmas Eve. I had a feeling it was coming because he was acting weird but when it happened, I completely blacked out. I would never have thought he would have proposed in public.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Our favorite thing about each other is that we constantly make each other laugh and have fun together. One of the best times of my life was right before we officially started dating, we went to BUKU in New Orleans and I’ve never had so much fun with someone in my life.
Where was your ceremony & reception? Spill the details!
Our ceremony was at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans. We picked the site because he really wanted to get married in a church and they allowed his family priest to do the ceremony there. Southern Oaks Plantation in New Orleans was where the reception was held and I picked it because it’s so beautiful. They provided so much and I had heard great things about it.
What was your favorite part of the day?
The entrance with the fireworks and Bassnectar playing
What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
Blues are our favorite color and go with everything.
From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was so excited. He looked so handsome and helped with the nerves so much.
From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was shocked at how beautiful she looked and relieved to see her.
We love cake, so tell us all about yours!
The baker was a family member of the groom. We had 4 different flavors. Pecan praline, lemon, strawberry, and almond. We only took that one bite but from it I could tell it was good!
Did you do a first look?
Yes we did. I’m so happy that we did. It took a lot of pressure off of both of us and it was a private moment we will always remember.
Did you have a coordinator?
I did everything myself! It was easy to do it myself because the church and reception venue had their own coordinators. But if you choose somewhere that doesn’t, I would definitely recommend one.
What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Cinema by Jason Evigan. We always loved that song and it just goes perfectly with the way we feel about each other.
Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
DJ. Yes! He did an amazing job.
Advice from the couple on planning your big day:
Do not worry about what people think or pleasing everyone. Someone will always have something to say so just do everything the way that you want it. Do not compromise what you want to please someone else.
It was the best time of our lives! And y’all were so amazing!
