How did you meet?
We met at Apple in 2010. He had been working there for two years, and I was at a hiring event. He was taking pictures of potential hires and he took my picture. After a few months, we told our mutual friend Blaire of our interest in each other, and we started hanging out. The rest is history!

So what do you and Marcus like to do?
I’m Sydnie and I work at for Apple as an inventory control specialist. I enjoy eating, reading, hanging out with my family, and browsing the web.

Marcus works as a production analyst for Lucid. He likes to play video games, watch movies, watch soccer (he’s a Manchester City fan), and ride his bicycle.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
Marcus—She is selfless and caring. (man of few words).

Sydnie—My favorite thing about Marcus is how great he gets along with everyone. He always stays true to himself and still is able to be a good person and everyone sees that. When we worked together at Apple, it always amazed me at how he was able to make the most angry customer comfortable and at ease. I hope to learn a little bit of that one day. Ha.

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
We went to dinner at Lola’s, then to see a movie. We have a book where we answer a question a day, and we got in bed to answer the question for the night. This particular night, the question was ‘What do you want more than anything?’ Marcus answered then gave me the book. His answer was, ‘to marry Sydnie’. I looked over at him and he had the ring in his hand. I burst into tears and cried for a solid minute. Then I realized I hadn’t answered, so I shook my head yes. A night that we both will never forget.

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Audubon Clubhouse—Oak Grove. When I first visited, I said to myself, ‘Sydnie, this is where you’re getting married.’

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
Instead of a sign-in book, we had people sign on Jenga pieces. (We love playing games together). We also had a second line band!

What was your favorite part of the day?
My (Sydnie) favorite part of the day was dancing with my nephew to Thriller. Since my dad passed away, I couldn’t do the traditional Father/Daughter dance, but he more than made up for it. He said it was the best day of his life.

My (Marcus) favorite part of the day was the first dance.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
No. We had a wedding of about 75 people, so we were able to enjoy myself and remember all of the moments.

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
My sister picked out everything and we loved it.

From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
When I first saw the groom, I felt very emotional. This was the first time we’d seen each other since the night before, and I knew we would be getting married in just a few hours. Also, he looked GREAT in his tuxedo.

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
Nervousness and excitement. She looked beautiful. (a man of few words).

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
The Kupcake Factory did about 350 mini Wedding Cake flavored cupcakes, and they were AMAZING. They looked beautiful and tasted even better.

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
We did a first look! We knew we wanted all of our formal pictures to take place before the ceremony, so it only made sense for us to do a first look. We were very excited to see each other in our tuxedo/dress for the first time. It made our wedding REAL.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
My sister planned everything, and she did an amazing job! The care and attention to detail she showed with everything produced such a beautiful night. I’m forever grateful for her doing this for us!

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
‘May I Have This Dance?’ by Francis and the Light (feat. Chance the Rapper). We chose this song because we didn’t want anything too traditional, but we also wanted something that meant a lot to us. When Marcus first sent it to me, I cried…so that’s when we knew.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
DJ RQAway! He did an amazing job with his music selection. Guests of all ages were dancing to his tunes!

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Make sure to enjoy your day! Things will fall into place so don’t worry about the small stuff. Capture the moments so they will stay with you forever. Most importantly, enjoy your time with your new husband. 🙂
