Chris & Jenny had the most magical wedding on the bayou at her parent’s property in Slidell, Louisiana. The picturesque backyard at their Slidell home combined with beautiful candles and decor made for a grand evening for this fun couple! Mise En Place Events of New Orleans, Louisiana did an amazing job transforming their home into a venue! Jenny was stunning in her Eddie K bridal gown from Olivier Courture Bridal Boutique. But don’t just take my word for it, just look at the pictures below!

We asked Jenny & Chris about their wedding and here is what they had to say.

How did you meet?

We wanted to know about the proposal, and this sounds pretty amazing!
Chris proposed during our trek in Peru. We were standing on a beach. He got down on one knee and a few surfers started cheering for us. It was awesome!

Where was your ceremony & Reception?
It was held in my parents’ yard in Slidell, LA. I loved getting married in a place with so much history and meaning! As a small child, I would swing from the oak tree in the center of our yard… to be standing there 25 years later with my husband was awesome.

What was your favorite part of the day?
Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing Chris was an incredible moment. I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I’ve never felt so loved in my life. Being surrounded with people you love while celebrating love was the ultimate feeling.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
It did but I was conscious of that. I knew the evening would pass quickly so I frequently took a moment to stop, take a deep breath and look around. I will forever remember those moments. It also helped that we had the reception in our yard… we ended up extending the bartenders and DJ by two hours. ūüôā Good times!

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself?
My parents and I coordinated everything but had a day of manager – Christie Chopin. She was divine!
My advice is to start planning in advance and chisel away at it over time. Pick dependable vendors with a track record. Out of our vendors, it was clear who was most experienced and professional versus not.

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
Surprised choreographed Bollywood dance and second line

We wanted to know if Jenny & Chris had any advice for future brides and we¬†couldn’t agree more! ¬†We find a lot of our couples don’t really sit down and think about all the group family pictures they want, even though we send out a questionnaire and help with a picture list. And everyone should hire video so you can really see and hear the fun of your night. ¬†Here is what the couple had to say:
Think through what photos you want and ask your parents what photos they would like also. I regret not spending more time on that. I would also recommend getting a videographer.
Enjoy your day, don’t get caught up in the things that don’t go as planned… as long as your significant other and loved ones are there, celebrate love and being surrounded by love. That’s all that matters! Be sure to have fun. We made an effort to say hello to as many guests as possible during the cocktail hour so we could dance the entire reception. We did and what an incredible night we had!

Anything else you want to say?
Studio Tran rocks!

We think Jenny & Chris rocks too!  Thank you for having us on your special day!
