The Crossing Wedding Photography | Morgan & Lenny

September 14, 2023

Studio Tran Photography is a MUST! My future husband and I booked them for our wedding, but ended up taking Engagements and Christmas photos in addition to that. Beebe and Corine made us feel SO comfortable and bring so much joyous energy to their job. We are BEYOND pleased with their services and our photos, and will recommend them to anyone! Definitely looking forward to our wedding photos and our family’s future photos!

How did you meet?
We met at a local daiquiri shop and were introduced through a mutual friend. We were friends for about a year, then I (Morgan) moved to Chicago, but Lenny and I remained friends and talked. We have always had great chemistry and one weekend I came home after being gone and working for 3 months, and he asked me out for my birthday and the rest is history!

Include a little bit about yourselves. What do you do?
Our last dating anniversary was one week before our wedding, we picked our date because it was close to our first anniversary. Lenny has a daughter, Olive, from a previous relationship, so not only did I gain a husband, I also gained a step daughter, which I’ve been lucky enough to be her bonus mama for almost 5 years now. We also have a fur baby, Leia! She is a German shepherd and we just love our little family!

what is your favorite thing about each other? Share a personal story.
Morgan:
Whenever I was living in Chicago, Lenny and I had just started talking/dating and he sent me a care package because I was feeling homesick. He sent me a couple boxes of Girl Scout cookies and a marvel tshirt (Lenny is a huge marvel nerd) and from that moment I knew I loved him! He is so thoughtful and he always puts myself and Olive before himself. I’m in love with the little things that he does like that for me.

Lenny:
I’ve never met a woman who laughed so much and about so many different things! Her laugh is contagious and scary all at the same time. Since the first time I heard it, I try my best to hear it as much as possible. If you’re wondering what I mean by scary, try and make her laugh and you will see!

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
Our favorite MLB team is the Houston Astros. Ever since we started dating, we take a weekend trip to Houston and go to a game every year! This year we decided to invite our friends to come along to a game with us, little did I know what was coming! The next day we went to a fancy brunch, then an awesome brewery which had a rooftop bar overlooking the city skyline of Houston, and that’s where Lenny proposed. I had NO idea that this was even in the works, much less actually happening! It was the best weekend ever knowing I got to become Mrs. Cutforth in the future!

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
We chose The Crossing based on a number of things. We definitely wanted to get married closer to New Orleans since we are from Prairieville. We had heard from some family and friends how amazing the food was there, and we love to eat so that was a plus! We loved all the exposed brick and the pretty hanging lights and just loved the atmosphere. They also added another pavilion outside which was stunning and could hold more people we love! We also wanted our ceremony and reception to be at the same location. They just offered a lot of awesome things that we loved and ultimately, that’s why we went with The Crossing!

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
We absolutely had to have all the light up gear for the reception! We love to have a good time and we thought our guests would love it too. Instead of a guest book, we used an Alex Bregman Astros jersey because we love both Astros and LSU, our guests signed the back for us and we will have it framed. I (Morgan) also had Lenny’s grooms cake made into an Astros jersey with the World Series trophy on top, as well as the number 29 on the back since that was our date! Since we love New Orleans so much, we had second line handkerchiefs as well as light beads that said “Crewe of Cutforth”

Pick one moment in the day that was your favorite thing?
Morgan:
My favorite moment of the evening was right when I stepped outside to walk down the aisle. I locked eyes with Lenny, then saw ALL of the people that were there to support our love, my breath was absolutely taken away and I was so ready to meet Lenny at the altar. I felt like the luckiest woman alive!

Lenny:
BESIDES MY GIFT?!? Well for me it was when her dad gave her away to me. The look in his eyes and hers just made me feel like a man, the right man!

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
It definitely did! From the time we got engaged to our wedding, we only had 9 months. We definitely had our work cut out for us during that short time (in wedding time haha).

The wedding literally felt like 30 minutes! I couldn’t believe how fast the entire day went by.

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
Not so much inspiration as much as it was just the colors I liked! I wanted it to be simple yet classy, that’s why we went with the white roses. I definitely wanted to give pretty spring vibes!

From Morgan – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was so nervous right before I saw him! I was waiting at the top of the staircase waiting to come down to show him my dress and my heart was POUNDING. He was so damn handsome and I was so happy to see him all put together. I was feeling so happy and lucky that I got to become his wife later that evening!

From Lenny – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
The first time I saw Morgan in that dress, I probably thought 3 or 4 things. First wasn’t even the dress, it was her smile, she looked so damn happy! Then I thought how damn lucky I was that she was there, wearing that to become my wife! I also really had no idea what she would pick, but after I saw it, I couldn’t picture her wearing anything else, like it was made just for her!

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Our baker was Cake Goddess, they are local to us in Baton Rouge. Our three tier cake had a different flavor each tier, one cookies and cream, one carrot cake and one wedding cake. It was better and even more beautiful than I could even imagine.

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
Yes, we definitely wanted to do a first look just for the fact we were so excited to see each other and that it would help with the nerves before the ceremony. I love how Beebe decided to let me walk down the grand staircase for our first look, I felt like royalty!

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
We did not have a coordinator technically, but Jennifer, Michelle and Melissa at our venue The Crossing, helped with coordinating the entire ceremony and reception. The venue came with catering and bar services, but myself and my mother found and booked all our other vendors!

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Our first dance song was Thank God by Kane & Katelyn Brown. Though it is popular on the radio right now, we loved that it was a husband and wife duo. Plus it was the spring symphony version, which sounded so classy to us!

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Our friend Lee Dronet aka DJ Push Play killed it the entire night! We love to dance and he got everyone to join us and have a great night.

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides or grooms?
Do what you can and let ANYONE help you that is willing to give you a hand. I had some awesome help from my family and friends, I honestly couldn’t have done it without them!

Day of, do not even stress. What happens, happens for a reason and half the time people won’t even notice if something is not right! Only you will notice and think about that. Enjoy your big day with your family and friends and take in all the love and just have fun.

We work really hard to help come up with a timeline and plan for the portrait list to make sure you are getting the most out of your day. How useful was this for you?
This timeline went so smoothly and it was such a painless process! We got all our portraits we wanted, plus more, and we also had extra time left! I would say the timeline is a must!

Anything else you want to say?
We love everything dealing with Studio Tran and will continue to recommend y’all. We love Beebe and Corine; they made us feel SO comfortable and made this process so easy, which helped us a lot! Studio Tran never ceases to amaze me with their beautiful work, I’m so happy y’all were available for our big day, we didn’t want anyone else!
