New Orleans Uptown Audubon Park Wedding | Michael + Kellie

How did you meet?
We met at Riverbend Nursing and Rehab Center where we worked together.

Tell us about you and Micahel
I am the Administrator of Riverbend Nursing and Rehab Center. Just recently Michael retired from his career as a Physical Therapy/Rehab Program Manager of Riverbend Nursing and Rehab Center to focus all of his attention to his new career of Real Estate Development.

We want to hear all about the proposal!
The proposal was a complete surprise. It was Christmas Eve and Michael revealed a series of gifts all related to “working out”. As each gift was revealed (a sweatshirt, roller, hand weights, etc) I became more and more frustrated because I thought he was implying that I needed to work out more! Finally, at the end, he dropped to his knee and proposed with a beautiful ring!

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
Our ceremony was held at the Sea Lion Exhibit of Audubon Zoo. We picked this site because we both have a sentimental attachment to the zoo and have memory of all the different phases of our life and times at the zoo.
We also wanted a very “New Orleans” style wedding – what better place than the Audubon Zoo!

Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Audubon Tea room – In addition to this sentimental factors listed above, the Tea room offered a wonderful selection of food options and drink options. Also – Vivian at the Tea Room is fantastic!

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
Bucktown Allstars provided a 2nd line dance from the Sea Lion Exhibit to the Tea Room that was fun. We had Plum Street SnoBalls. We also had a great friend of ours sing our processional song and an additional song during the ceremony.

What was your favorite part of the day?
After the ceremony when we first arrived to the Tea Room and we were surrounded by all of our family and friends and everyone was so happy for us!

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Yes – very quickly! Studio Tran did an excellent job of completing the majority of the photos before the ceremony so we were able to enjoy more of the reception!

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
The Sweet Life baked our cakes. They were all delicious! We had multiple flavors: White chocolate and macadamia nuts, chocolate with raspberry cream filling, red velvet, almond cake with raspberry cream filing, and white cake with white frosting.

My favorite was the layer with white chocolate and macadamia nuts!

Did you do a first look?
Yes. it was such a special and private moment. I am really glad we did it because it allowed us to have our photos completed early.
