New Orleans Immaculate Conception and Jaxson Wedding | Jared + Lauren

How did you meet?
We met about 10 years ago through mutual friends at a pool party. I knew he always had a thing for me, but I friend-zoned him pretty quickly because that was back in his wild college days (though secretly I had a thing for him too haha). It wasn’t until about a year and a half ago that the timing just felt right and we had both grown up a lot so we took the leap and got together.

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?
Jared proposed to me in Fairhope, AL last New Years Eve. I was completely surprised, though it didn’t go nearly as he planned since it was also in the middle of a massive storm, but it was perfect to me. The whole night I thought he was in a bad mood because he wasn’t talking much and seemed annoyed, but later he told me he was just focused on figuring out a new plan to propose since his original plan was ruined by the rain. When we got back that night to the house we were staying in, he suddenly picked me up like a child and sat me in the recliner in the den. He had this weird look on his face and I thought he was about to give me bad news or I was in trouble or something, but he got down on one knee 🙂

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
The ceremony was at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church. I just have always thought it was so beautiful and wanted to get married there for as long as I can remember.

Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
The reception was at the Jaxson, mainly because it is beautiful and also one of the only venues that hasn’t been done a million times yet.

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
We had fireworks to kick it all off, stunning flowers and tables capes, a live painter, glow sticks, light up sunglasses and tambourines, a light up wedding veil for me, and we had a 2nd line band. We had cut outs of mine and Jared’s head for the photo booth that people seemed to love. And we had a CHAMPAGNE WALL (my personal fave)!!

What was your favorite part of the day?
Lauren: The ceremony.
Jared: Watching Lauren walk down the aisle.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
It went by at lightning speed!!!! I honestly don’t understand the space time continuum that occurred, but I suddenly went from getting my makeup done to 2nd lining out the door at the end of the reception.

What was the inspiration behind picking the color palette and decor that you picked?
Jared didn’t have too much of an opinion, so I got to pick whatever I wanted. Everyone that knows me knows I tend to be a little “extra”, so my colors were basically “sparkle and shine”. I wanted my bridesmaids to feel just as beautiful and special as I did, so they were in sequin gowns as well. The overall decor was a dreamy, fairytale vibe, which all goes back to how “extra” I am. LOL.

From the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
Well, the scariest part for me was the walk down the aisle knowing hundreds of people were going to be staring straight at me. I was incredibly nervous, but once I saw Jared at the end of the aisle waiting for me, I was overcome with a sense of calm and confidence that once I got to him, all my nerves would be gone. He’s my rock.

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
I was thinking how she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I actually get to marry her.

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Our baker was La Louisiane and they were incredible! They matched the lace print on the cake with the actual lace print of my dress. We had a 5 layer cake. 3 layers were typical wedding cake almond flavored and 2 layers had raspberry/white chocolate filling. It was DELICIOUS.

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
I did a first look with my dad, which was so sweet, especially because I’m such a daddy’s girl. I’m glad I didn’t do one with Jared. I wanted his first look at me to be when the church doors opened.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
I had a coordinator. Hien Nguyen with Wink Design and Events. I could not have done this without her!!!! She is AMAZING! I just told her things I liked and my overall vibe and she made it happen.

What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Brett Young – In Case You Didn’t Know. Jared is a huge country fan and it was just a sweet song that recently came out and we both liked it.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
Band – KARMA. They absolutely rocked it!!!!

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
You do you, boo!!! It’s YOUR day, so make it everything that YOU (and your fiancé) want and who cares what anyone else thinks. Also, if your budget allows, GET A PLANNER. A good one is worth every cent.

Anything else you want to say?
Just a HUGE thank you to Studio Tran!!! Jared and I both get super awkward in front of a camera, but y’all made every session so fun, easy and comfortable! So now y’all are stuck with us for all of our future photos!!! 🙂
