How did you meet?
We met at a restaurant where he was valeting cars for extra cash. He pulled my car to me and noticed the Delta Airlines Corporate Employee Parking sticker and LIED by saying he had been trying to get a job there. I found out AFTER giving him my email and business card that he already worked there too! He emailed me for two years about different positions he needed me to refer him to until our paths crossed in person on campus one day.

Where was your ceremony held and why did you pick this site?
The Jaxson. We originally wanted the Marigny Opera House, but didn’t think it made sense to pay for flowers and decor at two separate places. We LOVE New Orleans, and when I walked through the venue with the river on one side, the FQ on the other, the big open windows…I knew it was THE spot. Plus, it was only a block from Cafe Du Monde! #Winning

How did the proposal go? Who proposed to who, were you surprised?

Where was your Reception?
The Jaxson, New Orleans – perfect ambiance and elegance. Loved the details of the stone on the bar, the floors, the preparation area with the huge grey barn doors. ANd perfect exit for second line on those gorgeous stairs leadng into the FQ

What unique or special things did you do at the reception?
The second line has been the highlight of our trips to NOLA, so we knew we had to have one at our wedding. We have literally received videos, calls, texts and even letters DAIL since the wedding from those who attended as well as strangers who watched our second line parade live on my instagram account. It was the only time during that whole wedding week that i FELT like I was getting married. The love, the emotions, the music ….it all hit me at once. To see the smiles on my guests, friends, family and strangers’ faces warmed our hearts like never before. The morning after we just held each other in our suite and cried watching the video of the second line. The one word EVERYONE used was “EXPERIENCE”….Experience of a lifetime, Best Experience ever….new experience….never experienced anything like it. I am actually going to contact our videographers to see if we can get a completely separate video of just the second line highlights to play back for our friends and family!

What was your favorite part of the day?
The Second Line parade HANDS DOWN for both of us! We were supposed to get married outside, but the rain wouldn’t let us be great. BUT we WERE able to second line with no problems, and I am so grateful. I mean, we LItERALLY shut the streets of New Orleans down Kinfolk band was PHENOMENAL. I will never be able to hear Cassanova, Just the Way you are, and Whitney Houston’s Dance With Somebody without getting emotional. When we got to Pat O’s and saw the hundreds of people in the streets dancing with us and celebrating, it was too much for my heart to handle. I knew in that moment we made the right decision to get married in NOLA and that all was right in the world.

Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
Nope! 48 TIMES MORE QUICKLY than you can imagine. Even with our amazing butler and planner making sure we ate, I didn’t even taste half the food we had, and have had to hear for the past week how amazing it was. I never got a beignet at the end of the night. I don’t remember more than 3 seconds on the dance floor. It was such a blur!!! But thank God for everyone’s photos and videos to remind me of all the fun we did have!!

rom the Bride – When you first saw the groom, what were you thinking/feeling?
Open the door already!!! This is it. This is what 30 years of waiting on the love of your life feels like. I honestly felt like I was having an out of body experience

From the groom – When you first saw the bride, what were you thinking/feeling?
Gosh, she is beautiful. I was overwhelmed with emotions, from being thankful to a sense of disbelief
All I could do was cry tears of joy. My wife is beautiful!

Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Royal Cakery! People have not stopped raving about the cake. We had a Red Velvet, Butter (white cake), and Chocolate layers.

Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
I always wanted a first look, but then got very indecisive about it the week of. I really wanted the emotions of him seeing me for the first time to be captured as I came down the aisle. BUT I am so glad we did. We had a little moment to just embrace and get the nerves out. Seeing him so emotional and nervous was the best feeling. I got to make sure he loved the gift I got him that morning and just boost his confidence and tell him how good he looked in his suit. We loved that moment.

Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
Merideth was AMAZING! I wouldn’t have been able to do anything and pull off the decor without her. Definitely will be a friend for life in her! Best planner ever….Even DeVon liked her!!

What was your first dance song?
“Best Part” – Daniell Caesar ft. H.E.R
The melody of this song, the words…It just represents us and how we feel about each other. I wanted him to know he is truly the best part of me and brings out the best part!! Our friends and social media followers always tell us our life is so awesome and adventurous like a movie. So when I heard that specific line that “if life is a movie, then you’re the best part” it just fit. I know we both want to stay focused on each other and our love through this journey. We also LOVE to dance. The end of the song speeds up to a nice little groove that we were going to do our little dance to, but I forgot to tell our DJ not to cut that song short. I still get emotional even listening to the song while writing this. To have someone else be the best part of you, and you of them is indescribable.

Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
“Dave the DJ” of DJS Ent. …. I flew him in from Houston, and He KILLED IT! We got right down to the party!!! He played the new and old, the New orleans bounce and throwbacks as well as the line dances that have been a staple in my family at weddings, birthday, holidays and family reunions since FOREVER!

We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
Stay calm! Don’t let the chaos of the day steal your joy. YOU GOT YOUR MAN, GIRL! Focus on what matters. Set reminders in your phone throughout the weekend to “T.I.A.I” – take it all in!

I bought myself a journal as soon as we got back home to journal everything I could remember from the day! I wanted one with love or hearts on it. But I found the perfect journal that instead said “Ignore the Rain, Look for the Rainbow!” It perfectly summed up how I had stalked the weather for weeks to have it rain on my special day, but there were so many rainbows. Even it if doesn’t physically rain on your day, something will go wrong. LOOK FOR THE RAINBOW, DEAR! I have the journal sectioned off
– Second Line
– Smiles (remembering certain people’s specific smiles at specific moments”
-Tears (all the unexpected tears from friends and bridesmaids were beautiful, and I didn’t want to forget those moments)
– First Look
-Prep Time
-Bach party Night
-Rehearsal brunch
-Day After Brunch
