Alison & Ed Kept running into each other at great places! They first met at Jacques-Imos restaurant (yum!) about four years ago but didn’t start dating until over a year later when they reconnected at a Mardi Gras Parade. On April 30, 2015, Ed took Alison back where it all began, they went to dinner at the restaurant where they met, Jacques-Imos. After dinner, he took her to the Peristyle in City Park where he proposed next to a beautiful pond.
Where was your Reception held and why did you pick this site?
Our reception was held at the Elms Mansion. When we visited it, we absolutely loved how beautiful it was. Judy Fern worked very hard to make our reception an amazing experience. We loved the indoor and outdoor parts of the venue. The food was also amazing!
What was your favorite part of the day?
As we were leaving the reception to board the streetcar we booked to take guest back to the Columns Hotel for the afterparty, it started raining at 10:01pm. We were so fortunate that it didn’t rain on during the other part of the day!
Did it really go by as quickly as everyone says?
It was very quick! We couldn’t believe how fast it went but we are looking forward to being able to see our pictures!
Who was your baker, what was the flavor of your cake? Was it delicious?!
Swiss Bakery was our baker and we got the traditional almond wedding cake with pineapple filling, which is their signature flavor. It was amazing!
Did you do a first look? If so how did you feel about it? If not, do you wish you had?
We did not do a first look and we are glad that we didn’t. We appreciated being able to see each other for the first time in the church.
Did you have a coordinator or did you plan everything yourself? If you didn’t have a coordinator any advice for brides planning their own wedding?
We did not have a coordinator as Alison‘s mother wanted to be integrally involved in the process.
What was your first dance song? Why this song?
Our first dance song was “Darlin” by the Beach Boys. We love this song because the first time we heard it was before we got engaged and we think the words really represent our relationship!
Band or DJ? Did they rock it?
DJ. We used Jack Magic Entertainment, and he was amazing! He followed all of our song requests, including the traditional “Pennsylvania Polka” and a special song request for Alison‘s parents, “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.
We want to hear YOUR advice for future brides.
It’s definitely important to keep the day how you want it and not stress about the little details, because it won’t matter in the end!
Anything else you want to say?
We really appreciate how awesome Beebe was on the wedding day! He was super professional and knew exactly what we wanted!
